“I see Lisa continually exploring and capturing her world, that world of beauty around her as well as her own internal labyrinth. I am always moved by the results ”
– Tony Buchen

My paintings arise from an investigation of the sacred connection between nature, spirit, and archetype. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, I moved to New York City to study at the School of Visual Arts, where I received my Bachelor of Fine Art. I work with vibrant layers of watercolor—a technique I learned at a Sacred Painting Intensive in India—creating images that invite viewers into a contemplative dialogue with the unseen. Through birds, animals, insects, and plants, I explore nature as messengers of wisdom. Mandalas meditate on the subtle energies of the numbers one through nine, while my Goddess paintings honor expressions of the Divine Feminine from spiritual traditions around the world. A series devoted to Divine Love explores love as a spiritual path. Rich layers of oil glaze create a luminous glow in the landscapes and creatures of New Mexico Life and my visionary interpretation of the symbols of Tarot Archetypes who travel along the journey of the soul. Across all of my work, painting becomes a devotional practice—an offering that invites the viewer into a mystical contemplation of the sacred presence woven through all life.
