Journey to the Sun
The Sun is one of the most positive, life affirming cards in the tarot. In this eWorkshop we will be harnessing the energy of the Sun. On a journey to the Sun we will become our shining selves and discover how to radiate our light into this world.
Supplies
- A tarot deck.
- A journal – I suggest using a sturdy multi-media sketchbook (I use Strathmore Visual Journal)
- Art supplies: glue, scissors, pens and pencils, pastels, paint, colored pencils etc…
- Tarot images. You can print photocopies of the cards you pull or use a tarot deck that you no longer use for readings. You can also create your own tarot cards using collage, drawing or painting.

Journey to the Sun
Before doing this journey make sure you will be undisturbed.
Make a little altar on your workspace with flowers and light a candle to enhance the sacredness of this time.
Take a few deep breaths and ground yourself.
Select all the cards in your tarot deck that make you feel good. No need to analyze the cards, simply look at each card and notice if you like it. You can select as many as you like but you need at least eight. Put the others away – you will only be using your good vibe pile to divine with.
Close your eyes and imagine travelling toward the Sun. Feel the warmth of the Sun relaxing your body. See yourself ascending to all that is good within you. Like a beautiful flower imagine yourself opening to the rays of the Sun. Feel the life force streaming through you. See the brilliant white light illuminating your radiant self. Know that you are divine. Just like the fruit on a tree you have the ability to absorb the goodness of the Sun and that in turn will nourish others.
Holding that positive energy from the Sun in your center. Shuffle your happy cards and then pull a card for each of these questions:
WHAT BRINGS CLARITY?
WHAT IS FLOURISHING?
HOW WILL I SUCCEED?
HOW DO I RECEIVE ENLIGHTENMENT/
WHAT BRINGS JOY?
HOW CAN MY FRUITFULNESS FEED OTHERS?
HOW CAN I BENEFIT OTHERS?
WHAT SHALL I RADIATE?
Art Project
Cut out the sunflower on the template.
Carefully bend the petals in, so that they fold over each other. Bend back and add color to the flower with colored pencils or pastels.
On the backside of the petals you can add an image or write the name of the card you selected for the question.
Glue the center of the template down on a piece of paper.
Embellish the page anyway you want. Let your creative expression have fun.
Title the page and add the date.
Writing
Spend some time journaling about the meaning of your spread. I wrote on the opposite page but you might need several pages to investigate your thoughts.
Make a short affirmation for each of the cards you pulled. I traced the outline of the petals on the page and wrote my affirmation in that space.
